Welcome to The Door at Cave Point. Our family has been here for 50 years. The home you see in the photos was built by my father, Thomas M. Slater, a well known Milwaukee architect, in 2001.
My mother and father were attracted to this property because of its unique location at the edge of the enchanted and awe inspiring Cave Point Park. No matter what time of year we are here, there is always visually stunning untamed beauty to behold at Cave Point Park: ice palaces in the winter; 40 foot water sprays created by waves crashing the ancient cliffs throughout the year; and historic sea caves ready to be explored on kayaks.
And you benefit from our long history in Door County. I’ve been told by some locals that have seen our guidebook that it includes places to explore that they were not even aware of!

The kitchen has everything you’ll need for cooking tasty meals for the whole family, and you can enjoy stunning views of Lake Michigan as you do so. We’ve provided pots, pans, dishes, spices, olive oil, paper products, a coffee maker (standard drip Cuisinart), a mini food processor, a blender, a toaster, a microwave, utensils, a knife set, and more! We often have holidays at the house so we’ve tried to think of all the things a family needs to prepare meals at home. We also have a propane Weber grill just outside the kitchen if you enjoy grilling. If you are wondering if we have a particular kitchen item, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Our home is all about bringing the outdoors inside. While the water views from inside the house are incredible, there’s nothing better than embracing those views while outside, regardless of the season. During the summer, listen to the waves crash against Lake Michigan’s shore while enjoying a s’more at the fire pit. During the winter, embrace the serenity while trying to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.
